KEY CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

Yorktown Central School District was already familiar with A-Turf because it was installed on its football field in 2012. Now that this turf was more than 10 years old, it was time to replace it. Yorktown Central School District selected A-Turf again because they were able to get the turf system they wanted while meeting the construction schedule and obtaining great pricing.

The contract was awarded through Sourcewell in December 2023. Sourcewell is a group that allows members to purchase products and services at a reduced cost through contracts without duplicating their own competitive bidding process and requirements. Memberships are free and available to all public entities in the U.S. Sourcewell nationally solicits, evaluates, and awards contracts through a competitive bid process.

The scope of the new turf system installation included a careful demolition and removal of the existing A-Turf. Next, the field’s stone was regraded to establish ideal planarity or levelness. The existing goal posts were also painted, along with other miscellaneous work, to meet A-Turf’s quality installation standards.
