Monroe Community College (MCC) in Rochester, N.Y., has been meeting the changing needs of its students and community since 1961. As a member of the State University of New York system, MCC offers students a quality education as well as a variety of extracurricular activities, including nine men’s and women’s sports teams.
To keep the women’s softball team at the Brighton campus at the top of their game, MCC unveiled a new cutting-edge softball field that features approximately 50,000-square-feet of A-Turf® DiamondPlay SB! This system elevates the athletic experience for both students and community members.
MCC’s $1.5 million investment into the new softball field marks a significant milestone and underscores the college’s dedication to providing its athletes with top-of-the-line facilities for training and competition. The new field amenities include:
MCC selected the A-Turf DiamondPlay SB system, because its designed with the ideal play characteristics of a high-caliber natural softball field. The artificial turf system includes different heights, fiber designs, and infill ratios between the infield and outfield areas. A custom MCC Tribune mascot greets batters approaching home plate.
The benefits of an A-Turf artificial grass system include:
The MCC softball field is the fourth A-Turf field MCC has added to its Brighton campus. The men’s baseball field features Premier RS and was installed in 2012. DiMarco Field, home to MCC soccer and lacrosse, features A-Turf’s original Titan-RS system and was installed in 2018. In 2023, MCC installed the Titan DiamondBlade System in their indoor practice field at the Monroe CC PAC Center.
