A-Turf Installs Dodger Dream Field

Los Angeles, CA – The Dodgers celebrated the grand opening of the seventh Dodgers’ Dream Field at Seoul International Park located at Ardmore Recreation Center on Sept. 16, with pitchers Takashi Saito and Hong-Chih Kuo in attendance with other members of the front office.

A host of local officials and community leaders, including Councilmember Herb J. Wesson Jr., Senator Kevin Murray along with Amateur Athletic Foundation President, Anita L. De Frantz, L.A. City Engineer Gary Lee Moore and LA City Rec & Parks General Manager, Jon Kirk Mukri, joined current Los Angeles Dodger pitchers Hong-Chih Kuo, Takashi Saito and Dodger Senior Vice President, Public Affairs, Howard Sunkin at the opening ceremony.

The $1.194 million field renovation was supported by the Dodgers Dream Foundation, the Amateur Athletic Foundation, the City of Los Angeles (Proposition K: LA for Kids Program) and State of California (Proposition 12: 2000 Parks Bond Act and Proposition 40: Resources Bond Act). Renovations included the installation of a new irrigation system, fencing, landscaping that surrounds the playing area, a state-of-the art scoreboard, lighting, dugouts, bleachers and multi-purpose synthetic turf over the entire playing field, making this the first Dodgers Dream Field of its kind.

“I think it’s absolutely great that the Dodgers are involved in the community like they have been,” Saito said. “I think it’s very difficult to replicate throughout Major League Baseball just how great the community involvement the Dodgers have and how they touch the lives of children. And to be a member of the Dodgers I really feel a lot of honor wearing this uniform because we are so involved in the community.”
